William R. Davan, 77, of Covington, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 1996 at Covington Manor Health Care Center in Covington. He was born Nov 27,1918, in Rossville, Ill., the son of James and Zena (Allen) Davan. He married Lora Lee Jenks July 19, 1944 in Covington. She survives. Also surviving, are: one daughter, Janet (Frank) Hayn of Covington; one brother, Russel (Ruth) Davan of Covington; and one sister, Gladys York of Williamsport. He was preceded in death by four brother and one sister. Mr. Davan worked 31 years for Interstate Sand and Gravel, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed reading. Visitation was Friday at First Church of Christ, Covington. Service there on Saturday with Rev. Randy Walters officiating. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home, Cayuga, in charge of arrangements. – jlr
